I thought I'd share an e-mail with you that I recently received
from one of our CBN.com readers. She writes:
Back in March, 06, I asked Christ to help me lose weight.
I promised Him I'd go where ever he wanted me to go and do what
ever he called me to do if He'd just help me lose this weight.
At 252 pounds, I thought the task was impossible. He said to
me, "Baby steps...what are you willing to do?" I told
Him how I was addicted to carbs, white sugar, pastries, (you
get the picture) and I needed deliverance. Then he told me,
"Only do what you're willing to do (and He would take it
from there)." Well, at that point, I was only willing to
change from white to whole grain bread so I did and praise God
Almighty, He DID take it from there. I changed my bread and
began to feel like making other changes. One change at a time
(baby steps), He began to motivate me and encourage me in other
areas such as exercise, water drinking, caffeine reduction,
etc. He took away ALL of my desire for sweet breads and pastries,
and he reduced my appetite and put a new excitement into my
heart for healthy living. I'm now down 43 pounds and praising
Jesus Christ the whole way.
I was very encouraged by this e-mail and it best describes
my own philosophy of weight loss. Early on in my blog, I shared
that I struggle with motivation when it comes to weight loss.
I'm pretty content with myself and my life. So it's hard to
motivate myself to make drastic changes in order to lose weight
quickly.
But I am in this for the long haul. So although I find myself
wishing that I had more dramatic results to report to our readers
each week, I do know that "slow and steady" will win
the race.
I'm looking forward to watching The 700 Club next
Wednesday as a Pastor shares his weight loss experience. It
took him 18 months to lose 65 pounds. I did the math on that
and once again, it is less than one pound a week.
So may God bless all your efforts in the coming week as we
continue our "fight to be fit."
In Him always....
Linda
