Are You Having Fun
Yet?
This week I’ve been hosting a Backyard Vacation Bible
School for my church. There’s nothing that makes me happier
than watching children enjoying themselves and learning about
Jesus at the same time. It reminds me of a question my doctor,
nutritionist and nurse asked me when I started to concentrate
on losing weight.
They all asked me what I do for fun. I thought it was a strange
question and thought it particularly odd that they all asked
me this separately. When I asked about the reason for this inquiry,
I learned that a recent study had shown that if you can answer
that question fairly quickly with 3 different things, you are
more likely to be successful at losing weight.
I realized the truth of this on Monday night. Because we had
so much to do to getting ready for the first day of the Backyard
Vacation Bible School, I didn’t have time to eat dinner.
What amazed me was that during the entire evening, I was not
hungry.
It makes me wonder how often I am really hungry for fellowship,
fun, relaxation, affection or something else when I think I’m
hungry for food.
In a recent article on CBN.com, Valorie
Burton shared the importance of actually setting goals for
having fun. Now, I’m always up for a good time, but thinking
that it could actually help my weight loss efforts makes taking
time for it particularly motivating.
In addition to spending time with kids and spending time with
friends, I love going to the movies.
So what do you do for fun? Log
on to our discussion board to share and to support other
Christians in their weight loss efforts.
