Us Against Them? No Way!

-- For the past few weeks, a small number of us in my department
have been gathering together in the early morning hours, faithfully
answering the call to pray for our nation’s Supreme Court.
We have all sensed the urgency of the hour, and just like good
watchmen on the wall, we have taken up our individual stations,
poised and alert to the voice and command of our High Priest --
with one having a word to advance, one having a word to wait,
one having a word to awaken, one having a word to rest, each in
its perfect timing as the Holy Spirit leads. For only He accurately
reports back the true “goings on” within the heavenly
realm, and those with a listening ear can rightfully discern the
battle plan and strategize warfare prayer accordingly.
The age-old battle continues to rage. Those ancient forces of
good and evil still, after centuries of fighting, vie to oppose
and conquer the other. A view from the natural eye would give
the impression that our fight is one that is waged within the
earthly realm. Not so. Our Heavenly Commander reminds His troops
of this:
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness
of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”
(Ephesians 6:12, KJV).
So once again, our spiritual sights have been re-adjusted by
the understanding that the battle is not one of “us against
them.” Our fight is NOT against those dignitaries seated
within the highest court. Instead, our fight is in the heavenly
realm, way above their heads. If your spiritual eyes have been
opened, you will begin to see where the war is truly being waged.
We have been given inside information as to “who”
the real enemy is. And as the Word of God reminds us, “To
whom much is given, much is required” (Luke 12:48). So,
as we gird up our loins with truth, we go forth into battle having
quite an advantage.
When the servant of the man of God got up and went out
early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had
surrounded the city. “Oh, my lord, what shall we do?”
the servant asked. Do not be afraid, the prophet answered, “Those
who are with us are more than those who are with them. And Elisha
prayed, ‘Oh LORD, open his eyes so he may see.”
Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked
and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around
Elisha (2 Kings 6: 15-17, NIV).
As we continue to prayerfully “war” in the heavenlies,
we also have the knowledge that this battle has already been won.
We simply “stand” on the winning side, the promise
of victory side, as we go forth proclaiming THY KINGDOM COME,
THY WILL BE DONE, ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN!
