CBN.com Our journey in the Ukraine continues! We are beginning to truly miss family and friends but we only have two more days to go before making the long trek back home. Today the CBN team visited an amazing ministry called Father's House. CBN supports Father's House in many ways. The wonderful team actually ministers to children who live in the streets, in the sewers, and in the woods. They gain the children’s trust and eventually invite them to come and stay at the Father's House (many of these children have such horrific backgrounds that they do not trust any adults). Once at Father's House, the staff integrates them into a foster family situation. One couple will live with up to 10 children in large apartments. The elementary school is at the same location. These couples have committed their lives to raising children who would be left on their own in the streets. Many of these children go on to be adopted!
Misha and Alina are a perfect example of what a loving home can do for children of the streets. When Misha was just six years old he took his baby sister (then three) and ran away because his mother beat them. This brave boy begged in the streets and lived wherever he could find a place FOR ONE YEAR. The authorities finally picked them up and brought them to Father's House.
Three years later, Misha and Alina are happy, well-adjusted children. They attend school and study hard. We have learned that a couple in California is adopting Misha and Alina! They will begin their new lives in America in a few months.
Children like Misha and Alina would not have a future if it were not for Father's House. Their love for God and love for these children is heart warming. It's an honor to be part of CBN, a ministry that supports Father's House and helps bring smiles to the faces of children.
