CBN.com My, what a “God Adventure” we are on!

We left you with the heart-wrenching departure from the orphanage. Today was the heart-warming arrival to the girls' grandparents. Alysa and Zoya (being the oldest) of course began to recognize landmarks. I watched Sophia struggle to remember the slightest thing. It wasn't until Sophia actually pulled up into the courtyard that her eyes lit up! "I remember this place," she cried.

At that moment we spotted their grandparents waiting outside. Cries of joy, deep from the heart, filled the van. I watched as Sophia bolted out the door, flew into the arms of her grandfather, and wept.

Now, I had spoken to Grandpa Nickolay on the phone. His deep, husky Ukrainian voice made me wonder how he would react to my three girls now. That's a lot of estrogen visiting his humble apartment! But I witnessed this strong man, weathered by years of hard work, cradle my youngest... and cry.

Grandma Galina was just as filled with emotion. She hugged and kissed each girl several times, and the hugs and kisses were equally returned. What a scene we made! Curious onlookers turned out to be a few of the girls' childhood friends; another round of hellos and hugs were in order.

It was easy to understand their emotion. This place contained happy memories. This place was the last they knew of a family. This trip has helped them connect the special moments of the past with their new lives in America.

We are now enjoying a lovely visit for a few days before returning to Kiev to begin our visits to some amazing ministries that CBN supports.

We look forward to sharing with you next week about the next chapter of our “God Adventure”. Thank you for your prayers.

The adventure continues... Read Part 6.
