CBN.comDALLAS, TX (ANS) -- The fast-paced, reality TV program “The Way of the Master” has won the National Religious Broadcasters’ prestigious “Best Program” Award for the second consecutive year at the recent 2006 NRB Convention in Dallas. It also picked up its third “People’s Choice” Award, which it has garnered each year since its debut.

The co-hosts, Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort, find this especially encouraging due to the program’s subject matter. “This is a show about a topic that makes many people squeamish—sharing your faith,” Cameron explained. “In it, we teach Christians how to talk to the lost about the Savior, so the fact that viewers are responding to it so favorably is thrilling. We truly thank God for allowing us to make this program.”

The show’s fresh approach includes not only sharing biblical principles of witnessing, but also going out into the streets to talk with real people from all walks of life about matters of eternity.

Comfort added, “The awards are very timely because they coincide with our release of "The Way of the Master" Basic Training Course, which is the cream of the crop—it entails the best of the series plus brand new footage. Designed for churches and small groups, it includes activities that help participants put these principles into practice.”

With only 2 percent of believers in America regularly sharing their faith with others, Comfort stated, “The Basic Training Course will help inspire, encourage, and equip the Church to overcome their fears and compassionately reach out to the lost.” The comprehensive eight-week course has been commended by John MacArthur, Ravi Zacharias, and Josh McDowell.

Production has begun on the third season of “The Way of the Master,” which will retain the fast-moving reality TV format. Designed to educate Christians about the major religions and cults, these episodes promise to be “very eye-opening,” according to Comfort. He added, “Production costs are huge, so we have decided to partner with churches who would like to sponsor an episode.” Details of the program are available at www.WayoftheMaster.com.

Cameron added, “One very exciting spin-off from the TV show is the recently launched The Way of the Master Radio program. This compelling daily two-hour talk show is co-hosted by Todd Friel, a former stand-up comedian who’s doctrinally sound and very sharp. He’ll phone people at random to ask what they think happens after death, and even called to talk to the president of American Atheists. It makes for gripping radio.”

One listener complained, “I have one complaint about the radio show. Since I began listening, I can't listen to anything else in my truck. I'm addicted! I need a 12-step program to get off. My wife gave me an ultimatum. She said either The Way of the Master goes or she goes. Man, I'm going to miss her!"

As of last week, 590 stations had begun broadcasting “The Way of the Master Minute,” a brief reminder encouraging listeners to witness. Details on either radio format can be found at www.WayoftheMasterRadio.com.
