		 TIP TOP FORM
Steve’s job is to keep the Denver Nuggets in top physical shape.   Steve is the team’s strength and conditioning coach.   For the past 13 years, he has coordinated the team’s weight training, conditioning, stretching and nutritional programs.  Steve designed and arranged the Nuggets’ sparkling weight room in the Pepsi Center and also designed functional pieces unique to the Denver Nuggets.
In his 14th season with the Nuggets, Steve creates and administers individual workout programs for each player throughout the entire year.  He spends the majority of the off-season working with the Nuggets players as well as other professional athletes, overseeing every aspect of their workout programs.  With his high energy and upbeat personality, Steve pushes them to reach their peak physical condition.
Steve plans each player’s individual pre-season work-outs according to what the head coach is looking to get out of each player.  In the off-season, Steve may use aerobic, anaerobic or non-impact cardio work-outs to keep a player in shape.  Or he might do more core strengthening with another player or work on building strength in another.  “Each player is an individual so the plan is different for each one,” says Steve.
As far as rehabilitation, when a player is injured, the program to get back on the court is different for each player and injury. The length and particular training protocol depends on the injury.
Steve is a part owner of FORZA fitness and performance center and is one of 12 trainers worldwide who sits on the Under Armour training council.  In addition, Steve has had much television experience and has been featured on NBA Inside Stuff and on The Eating Network.   He also has his own workout segment on the Altitude Sports and Entertainment Network.
A graduate of Ithaca College (N.Y.), Steve received a master’s degree in physical education with an emphasis on sports medicine and a bachelor’s degree in exercise science fitness and cardiac rehabilitation in ‘91.   Steve lives to obtain peak performance in his own life.  His wife, Alicia, is also a conditioning expert and the couple spends their time chasing their two sons, Jordan and Korey, around their home.
        TRX TRAINING
Steve will demo the following exercises using the TRX® Suspension Training: push ups, single leg squat, pull ups, double leg squats, bicep/tricep variations and side-to-side lunges.  The TRX owes its roots and ongoing drive to the US Navy SEAL Teams - the world's finest commandos who are professional athletes of the most serious kind. Development of the TRX® Suspension Trainer™ began among the SEAL teams as an invention of necessity.  In wharf-side warehouses, urban safe-houses, on ships and inside submarines, Navy SEALs searched for ways to stay in peak condition while stashed away on missions.
Steve says it’s important to keep your body in shape.  He says you can get fit in the next 8 weeks using the TRX.  “The most important thing is to stay active,” he says.  “Be adaptive and creative in this tough economy.  You don’t have to spend a lot of money to stay in shape.”
