Dan Reany: Parker and I are here at Christmastown in Busch Gardens Williamsburg. We’re going to go ride some rides, see some shows, and maybe even learn something.
Parker Reany: Learn?
Dan: Yep. Just like in school. But first, we’re going to go do some fun stuff. Ready to go?
Parker: Yes.
Dan: Okay, let’s go. Throughout the Christmas season, Busch Gardens is decorated with two million lights, hundreds of fresh cut trees and miles of garland. We, of course, stopped by the Christmas workshop to see Santa and got treated by Busch Gardens to some hot chocolate.
Parker: It’s chocolate in there, and then they put hot in. So it’s hot.
Dan: So there’s chocolate in there and hot in there. So I guess that’s why they call it hot chocolate, huh?
Parker: (laughs) Yes.
Dan: It was deliciously rich, and within a matter of minutes, the chocolate and sugar kicked in. So we were off to ride some rides. We watched the Christmas tree dance with lights and caught their new show, "Miracles". Another one of their big shows is “Rejoice,” which features Gregorian style chanting. Now, I don’t know what monastic order these guys belong to, but the Busch Gardens monks get to wear really cool glitter robes. In fact, at Christmas the whole park sparkles, and it’s beautiful from the skyride. Back on the ground, we got a chance to see some penguins on loan from sea world.
Parker: Hey dad, did you know that penguins actually do not live at the north pole?
Dan: That’s very interesting. Where do they live?
Parker: At the South Pole.
Dan: Yes, but did you know this? Some penguins live in South Africa, and there are even a few that live in the galapagos islands on the equator where it’s really warm. Just outside the penguin area we tried catching some snowflakes. Christmastown’s lifesize nativity is the subject of many people’s pictures, and it was the stopping point for our evening. The whole Christmas season can be crazy fun, can’t it?
Parker: Yes.
Dan: But we have to remember a few very important things. I’ll give you a quiz, and we’ll see if you know them. What’s the reason for the season?
Parker:It’s Jesus’ birthday.
Dan: Yes, we’re celebrating Jesus’ birthday. So, who’s more important, Jesus or Santa Claus?
Parker: Jesus.
Dan: Right again. Who will always be there for us, no matter what?
Parker: Jesus.
Dan: Yes! Three for three. Important things for everyone to remember this holiday season and always. So from all of us at The 700 Club, Merry Christmas.
Parker: God bless us, everyone.
