CBN.com – Located in the rolling hills of central South Carolina, First Baptist Church of Simpsonville reaches out to people around the world in an amazing way.
In 2006, they have 12 mission trips scheduled to over eight different countries.
Senior pastor Randy Harling explains, “As a pastor my greatest joy is to be on one of those trips or see the reports, talk to them when they come back, and realize that God is actually using them to be a minister. I want people to understand that there is a divine plan, and they’re right in the middle of it. But they’ll never realize it if they just stand pat where they are.”
Missions director Lynn King says these mission trips touch the lives of thousands of individuals all over the world.
“Last year we had over 208 people out of our church congregation to go on mission trips and out of their efforts we had over 2,000 salvations,” she says.
Church member Art McCraw says his mission trip experience changed his life forever. “It made me so much closer to God because I realized how awesome He is, how big He is and how much He cares about everybody. It changed my outlook on people from different races and different countries. It made me aware that God loves all of us, and He wants all of us to work together to worship Him.”
Maria Hurst translates for mission trips to spanish-speaking countries.
“Go just one time,” she says. “It only takes on time. Don’t worry about the language. Don’t worry about the custom. God will lead you.”
For their extensive missions trip outreach all over the world, The 700 Club salutes First Baptist of Simpsonville, South Carolina, as America’s Church of the Week.
