"Trust You" - Brandon Heath

I’m not gonna fight
you anymore
I’m not gonna try to
lock the door
You took my life and
gave me yours
There’s no reason why, I shouldn’t trust you with mine

Some days this weight upon my shoulders is my shame
I know I should know better
‘Cause you say that I must now surrender, there’s no other way

WHOLEHEARTED FAITH

Let God into My Heart?

By Hannah Goodwyn
CBN.com Senior Producer

CBN.comAt times, I contemplate the very nature of our existence on this planet, my part in God's story, and how and why the Creator of the Universe wants to interact with me. I find answers to my “philosophical” questions in God’s written word. But, He also speaks wisdom to my heart when I'm willing to listen.

Recently, God gave me a vision that helped put it all into perspective.

A great wooden door towered over the room lined with open doors. Large steel beams criss-crossed the front of this entrance way. Chains and padlocks fastened the braces in place. Dust collected on the security of this door, as if it was rarely used. Below were two fierce-looking dogs, who sat steady as they eyed an approaching figure.

“Let me in,” was His whisper.

On the other side of this defense sat the small frame of a person. In the darkness of a sealed-off room, she huddled close to the floor. Afraid of her weakness, she ignored His pleas, confident that this barricade was the best answer to her pain.

“Let me in,” He said again, as He stood patiently outside this walled fortress she had built.

Suddenly, her guard dogs began barking and pulling on their chains to chase the intruder away. They could do nothing tied down. It was as if they were just for show.

This girl listened to the Son of God’s plea. She could see the light peeking through the cracks of her fortified door. Two simple words were all she uttered.

“Come in.”

Although her voice was weak, her will was behind it completely. No longer did she dwell in her bleak place.

His hand opened the door easily because all defenses were gone. He walked in with His light and the darkness left.

As I watched this scene unfold, God spoke its message clearly to my soul. Shame and fear kept this woman in the dark she had created.

My first reaction: Who can blame her? Who really wants to show all of their “dirty laundry” to anyone let alone the Holy One?

It’s overwhelming to consider that we can barricade God out of certain areas of our lives. Fear often can supersede the hope we have in Christ. We allow our hearts to be closed to His healing because we are ashamed of our sin. But, that’s exactly when God displays His wonder.

“Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow.” Isaiah 1:18a (NLT)

God’s hand of mercy is extended to us all, despite our sin. He doesn’t see it when we come to Him with a repentant heart. All He can see is the sacrifice of His Son on the Cross, which makes us clean before our God. How amazing is that!

“The people I love, I call to account – prod and correct and guide so that they’ll live at their best. Up on your feet, then! About face! Run after God!

"Look at me. I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I’ll come right in and sit down to supper with you.” Revelation 3:19-20 (The Message)

God’s intention is not to shine His light in order to condemn us for our sin. He wants to shine light into our darkness so that we can follow Him wholeheartedly.

God, your God, will cut away the thick calluses on your heart and your children's hearts, freeing you to love God, your God, with your whole heart and soul and live, really live. Deuteronomy 30:6 (The Message)

Rest easy. You can trust God for He only wants what is best for you. Let your personal prayer be like that of King David, who was called “a man after God’s own heart.”

“Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” Psalm 86:11 (NIV)
