Part One: Why are Christians opposed to The Da Vinci Code

With the worldwide release of the motion picture, The Da Vinci Code, based on the popular Dan Brown novel, people are questioning the validity of orthodox Christianity and the biblical record. Was Jesus Christ really the Son of God, or was he only a great teacher and a mere sinful man? Was he married to Mary Magdalene? Did Constantine order the creation of the Bible we have today to advance his view of what Christianity should be?

Recently, CBN.com's Craig von Buseck was joined by scholars from Regent University to discuss 'The Da Vinci Code', its meaning, and its impact on the Church and society.

Meet our panel:

Dr. Corne Bekker is an associate professor for the School of Leadership Studies. Dr. Bekker teaches in the doctoral programs of the School of Leadership Studies and is actively involved in research on the use of Biblical hermeneutics and spirituality to explore leadership. His expertise lies in early Church History, Gnosticism, and the Nag Hammadi Manuscripts. More from Dr. Bekker.

Dr. Dennis Bounds is a Professional in Residence at the Regent School of Communication, in the Cinema-television department. His research concerns the areas of narrative adaptation, Biblical epics, science fiction, and detective film and fiction. More from Dr. Bounds.

Dr. Philip Genetti is the firs full-time English professor for Regent Undergrad. He was formerly the chair of General Education Studies for the undergraduate program at Regent University. As a college English professor, Dr. Genetti has specialized in integrating subjects and themes of Christianity into the content of courses ranging from freshman composition to Medieval and Renaissance English literature.
