A Christmas Collection Inspired by 'The Nativity Story'

The media buzz surrounding The Nativity Story may be just beginning, but for Christian movie-goers the excitement has already started. Anticipation about the film began to build as soon as it was announced that production of the new movie was underway.
The Nativity Story brings the beloved Christmas story to life retelling Mary and Joseph’s journey of faith as they traveled to Bethlehem and welcomed Jesus into the world.
As movie fans eagerly await the opening of the movie on December 1, they can get themselves into the Christmas mood early with The Nativity Story: Sacred Songs, a collection of music inspired by the film.
This companion CD features 13 sacred Christmas songs performed by some of Christian music’s most popular artists. The album includes a few songs that have become Christmas favorites through the years, like Amy Grant’s “Breath of Heaven,” from her Home for Christmas album.
Other highlights include a harmonious version of “For Unto Us” from Point of Grace’s Winter Wonderland and Nicole C. Mullen’s beautiful rendition of “Angels We Have Heard on High” from her Christmas in Black and White album.
The collection also features two new songs. Seven of Christian music’s finest artists team up for “The Virgin’s Lullaby,” a song that calls to mind the nativity scene on that special night in Bethlehem. Listen for this song on Christian radio stations beginning November 3.
Another new recording comes from BarlowGirl, who penned new Christmas lyrics for the 19th century hymn “For the Beauty of the Earth.”
Christmas music lovers will want to add this album to their holiday collection. And for those of us who are eagerly awaiting the opening of The Nativity Story, we can gaze at the breathtaking photography on the cover of The Nativity Story: Sacred Songs and count down the days until we can see the whole story play out on the big screen.
