Livonia, MI - For over three decades, noisy machinery has meant the sweet sound of success for Dave and Ruthanne Stormont, owners of NuCon Corporation. NuCon manufactures parts that are critical to the aircraft and aerospace industries, but in 2001, the machines fell silent as demand for their services slowed to a crawl after 9/11.

“It got so bad that everything was dead,” says Dave. “The place sounded like a morgue with no machines running. The Silence was deafening.”

The Stormonts are faithful tithers to their church and ministries like CBN. Even in lean years, they gave because they knew they could trust God. But when they had to start laying off employees, they took a drastic step.

“We felt that we needed to share the pain that everybody else did,” says Dave. “So we laid ourselves off and we were laid off a full six months.”

Despite their circumstances, the Stormonts continued giving. They stood on the promise that God would provide. “I knew that business did not belong to us,” says Ruthanne, “it belonged to Almighty God. And God would do with that business what he wanted to. And I knew I could trust in the Lord.”

But by year’s end, the Stormonts prepared to close the doors of the business they had poured their lives into for 35 years. “We were down to the place where if work did not come in, we would only have been able to survive maybe another one or two months,” says Dave. “We would have had to declare bankruptcy.”

Then in January of 2002, they say God answered their prayers. “The Lord actually provided favor to us and as the work came in that gave us the revenue ultimately to meet our oblibations and then it began to prosper,” says Dave.

Business has never been better and despite tough economic times in America, they’ve increased their giving to CBN. “There’s a lot more to riches than money,” says Ruthanne. “I just feel rich in Him when I see souls coming into the Kingdom through CBN.”

“ As I watch Operation Blessing meeting needs of those that are in real desperate circumstances,” says Dave, “I feel very good to be a part of that.” The Stormonts know they can always rely on God. “The Lord wants us to trust in Him,” says Ruthanne, “because He is faithful. And I think that’s really what it’s all about is trusting in the Lord.”

Being obedient to God's truth made an incredible difference for this family. They made themselves available for God's love to flow through them to others, and they are reaping a blessing themselves as well. Join them in partnering with CBN. You will make a difference in lives around the world, through medical missions, food and clothing programs, humanitarian outreaches and so much -- all in the name of Jesus. Please join today.
