Why Do Bad Things Happen To

-- "The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: 'I have loved
you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness'"
(Jeremiah 31:3).
Since we know God is in control of everything, we must believe that He allows
pain to enter our lives. The Bible says that God will never leave us or forsake
us. He walks with us into every painful experience and He stays with us through
them, whether we feel His presence or not.
When pain enters our lives, we have a choice. We can either overcome the
pain, or we can be overcome by it. It boils down to this. Are we willing to
trust Him? Mother Teresa said, "Don't run from pain, but let God work
through it."
Jesus wants you to know He understands your pain and knows your need. He
is greater than those things.
When our son was sick with cancer, I could not feel God's presence. I thought,
"God if you really cared you would be with me here, right now!"
Then good things started happening; we found an excellent hospital, we got
financial aid for drugs, I met many dozens of caring people who enriched my
life, our son got well.
Now, years later, I am starting to see how God did take care of us. And I
am beginning to see why He let it happen.
If you are dealing with pain right now, don't worry about trying to answer
all the questions that come to your mind. Don't feel bad if you are angry
with God. But do trust Him to provide for you, to help you, to rescue you.
Even if you can't understand it right now, God has a wonderful plan for your
life!
