SINGLES
I Belong to Someone

I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you
in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion. I will betroth
you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the Lord ... I will
plant her for myself in the land; I will show my love to the one
I called “Not my loved one.” I will say to those called
“Not my people,” “You are my people”;
and they will say, “You are my God.” Hosea 2:19-20,
23
Who said I was single? Not true. I am betrothed. Like Mary was
betrothed to Joseph. I am waiting for my bridegroom to come. I
have His promise and I know that He will be on time. He always
is. He has proven to be trustworthy.
Faithful and true is my beloved. Not leery of love, for He is
love. Love in the flesh. He saturates me with it and waters me
with His compassion. I feel my roots go deep, guided by His faithfulness.
I am settled. I am here to stay. I belong to someone. Not just
anyone. I belong to Him. The one who holds forever in His hands.
And He has pledged all His tomorrows to me.
And in the moment that we embrace, the circle will be complete.
I will be home at last. In the arms of the one who loves me most.
Caught up into eternity where love will abide forever unbroken.
This is His promise to me. And He cannot lie.
No, I am not alone. I am His. He is mine. We are one. Living
and breathing inside of each other. Two souls united. Bound by
cords that cannot be broken. Spoken vows that cannot be retrieved.
We stand before the Father approved. Grafted into the vine. We
are forever intertwined. And heaven stands witness. I am wedded.
Married. Possessed by the Lover of my Soul. I am a lot of things
in Him, but alone is not one of them. I belong to someone.
Dear heavenly Father, it is so good to know that I belong
to You. You are my saving grace. For every moment that the tempter
tries to deceive me with loneliness, I pray that You will make
our nearness real to me. Wrap Your arms around me and keep me
warm. Hide me in Your heart and write Your name across it. Let
me be a walking testimony of Your ownership of my life.
Today I choose to turn away from my past and from the things
and people who keep me bound. I embrace You and the freedom You
offer. As I yield to the lordship of Jesus in every area of my
life, I believe that You can make me whole again.
I open my hands to You now and say, “Take my life,
I am Yours.” Prepare me to be a sanctuary, a place where
You are pleased to dwell.
Lord, I love You so much. Thank You for redeeming me and
choosing me for Your Son. Make me a worthy bride that will bring
pleasure to his heart. Until then, let Your love shine in me and
fill me with the joy I have been longing for, in Jesus’
name. Amen.
