TASHA’S RISE TO FAME
For Tasha Cobbs, it all began in her hometown, Jesup, Georgia. There she functioned as Worship Leader of Jesup New Life Ministries, founded by her late father, Bishop Fritz Cobbs. Tasha faithfully served at her local assembly before relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, where she joined the dReam Center Church of Atlanta. At the dReam Center Tasha spent most of her time leading worship and managing the Worship & Arts Department. She now serves as one of the team pastors at dReam Center. In 2012, Cobbs recorded her freshman project titled Grace, produced by multi-award-winner and Motown Gospel label mate, VaShawn Mitchell. This project featured the lead single, Break Every Chain, which landed as Billboard’s #1 song for a total of 12 weeks. This anthem unleashed liberation to countless audiences nationwide each time it was heard or ministered. The album landed on Billboard’s Top 10 Gospel Albums chart for a year. More than an artist, Tasha Cobbs is an innovative tool of influence with a passion for mentorship which is why she launched the iLead Escape, a global ministry mentorship program that aids 2,000 mentees in sharpening the knowledge and execution of their gifts. In addition to this program, Tasha extended the reach of her mentorship with her debut book, Worship 101, a manual that revisits the basics of worship. In such a short time, Tasha has seen extraordinary success with accomplishments that include: a Grammy Award, 3 Stellar Awards, and 3 Dove Awards. She notes God’s grace as the reason for it all. “I know my assignment as a worship leader is to, without fail, lead God’s people into His presence. A national platform only gives me a greater opportunity to fulfill that purpose.”
CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS
For Christmas, Tasha’s family normally celebrates at home and at her grandfather's house in Jessup, Georgia. “About three years ago I had an idea to break the tradition of doing Christmas at home, and we all went to Florida a few days before the actual holiday and enjoyed family time there. It was a great Christmas and everyone had a blast,” shares Tasha. This year, Tasha and her family which includes all the cousins, children, aunts, and uncles will meet at her grandfather's house. “It is always fun,” shares Tasha. She says her immediate and extended families are extremely close. “I'm sure this Christmas will be difficult without my dad, but together we'll press through,” shares Tasha. She says her mom will probably come spend a few days with her so they can spoil one another.
MOTOWN CHRISTMAS
Tasha is featured on the Motown Christmas CD this holiday season which points to the reason for the season. This album is the first collection of new Christmas recordings from Motown in 46 years. It offers soulful renditions of classical Christmas songs with artists from Capitol Records, Motown Gospel, and Motown Records. The CD is produced by multiple award-winning producer Aaron Lindsey. “I’m hoping this album draws people together while reminding us the reason that we celebrate Christmas, which is because we have a savior,” shares Aaron. “We all love getting gifts, this music is even a gift, but the real gift is from heaven.” The CD features classic Christmas songs performed by India. Arie, Ne-Yo, Gregory Porter, Smokie Norful, Tye Tribbett and Tasha Cobbs. On the CD, Tasha sings O Come All Ye Faithful and does a duet of The Christmas Song with Ne-Yo.
