Dr. Weiss says the enemy attacks every man with pornography, starting young, hoping to scar them permanently and leave them ruined. The porn industry is invasive, totaling billions each year. But one’s past is not enough to keep one bound for life, and turning to the Lord changes everything. Doug personally knows this road having battled it and won, walking clean for over 25 years. What starts small can erupt into a conflagration in a man’s life, causing him great harm and hurt. Without dealing with the problem early on, you run the risk of hurting your wife, future wife, children, or parents when this behavior comes to light. And when a man is cheating on a Christian wife, he forgets something – God is his Father, but He is also a Father-in-law who cares about and looks out for His daughter. If he doesn’t come clean, God has a way of turning up the heat. There are two paths to humility. The first is the easiest path and this is to humble yourself. Its consequences are small in comparison to the second option, which is to protect the sin. “I have been an eyewitness to many men who thought they would never get caught,” he says. “God loves you too much to let your sin kill you, so exposing them is an act of His grace and mercy. Some of the ways Dr. Weiss says to live healthy are have an accountability partner, use filtering software, and join a men’s group.
THE IMPORTANCE OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountability is one of the most important ways men can start to get clean and stay clean. Men need to start talking, confessing, and being accountable to each other. Dr. Weiss says America is an isolated culture so men need to be interdependent with other men.
Two passages in the Bible show where confessing to each other can bring lasting healing. In I John 1:9 it says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us of our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” The other passage that tells us to confess our sins is James 5:16, “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” John tells us to go to Jesus for forgiveness and Christian brothers for healing which makes a great difference.
HOLY HOLOGRAMS
Holograms are three-dimensional. People are multi-faceted, according to Dr. Weiss. He wants men to see themselves, as well as women, as multi-faceted, instead of seeing a one dimensional face and body. Every woman is an amazing soul with a mind full of information and wisdom. She is more than the three dimensions of spirit, soul, and body. Men ought to see women of holiness. When men look at women, know that they are holy holograms and daughters of the Most High God. Men are the protectors of the holiness of women because they are men of God.
WHERE TO START
To start on the path of living a clean life, Dr. Weiss suggests starting with the two areas mentioned above. Also, it is good to continue to move from forgiveness to healing. Women need to ask their men questions about their activities, etc. Dr. Weiss says one of the primary reasons we have had these problem is that we’ve had the wrong rules of engagement. If we learn to communicate - ask and tell/have conversations - then we’ll win. Practical things, like blocking computers from porn sites, are also helpful.
