CBN.com Meet 23 adorable children with the voices of angels! The world-renown African Children’s Choir shares the love of God through song and dance. These youngsters spend months away from their native country, Uganda. So, King’s Park International Church in North Carolina came up with a way to make their stay in the United States a bit more comfortable.

About two years ago King’s Park International Church had the opportunity to host the African Children’s Choir in one of their Sunday services. And as anyone who sees the choir knows, when you’re able to interact with them, you just fall in love with them. And at that point they just started looking for ways that they could support the choir. And from that came the invitation to have them come and live in North Carolina with the church as their host family.

This church family took on the project of building the Mirembe house. Mirembe means “peace” in the Ugandan language. The children and chaperones live and homeschool here during their U.S. tours. The house provides a peaceful and fun place for these orphans to learn and play. Architect Chuck Lewis designed the new house.

The house sits on five and a half acres, so the kids have fields to run and play in; soccer is a big pastime. They’ve got trampolines. They’ve got all sorts of stuff to have fun.

“To have a place where they come back to just be and run around is relaxing for them. It rejuvenates them when they have to get back on tour and travel,” said one of the leaders.

Each child wants to make a difference in Ugandan society.

“When I grow up I want to be a pastor,” stated little choir member, Rita.

Christine wants to be a midwife.

“And when I grow up I want to start up a hospital in Africa to help some mothers who give birth in strange places,” Christine said.

“They are sincere in their grateful hearts to God, to anyone who shows them kindness. They’re really role models in many ways to us; as Christians here in the west and to those that they minister to throughout the communities and congregations,” said Liz from King’s Park International Church

For opening your hearts and creating a home for the African Children’s Choir, The 700 Club salutes King’s Park International Church in Durham, North Carolina – America’s Church of the Week!
