Who says Good Samaritans don’t exist anymore? Cedar
Park Assembly of God Church in Bothell, Wash., operates an auto
repair shop year round to help those in need.
Three years ago, Craig Brandenburg left his car maintenance business
to begin an auto repair shop at the church, hoping to offer car
repairs at reduced rates. Now Craig is the shop's manager and
he has a staff of four qualified mechanics.
"The individuals who come in are mostly single women, the
elderly, and those in financial distress," he notes.
The shop also repairs donated cars and sells them. Craig and
his mechanics don’t rely on their skills alone. They look
to God for wisdom on what to do to fix each car.
"The auto repair shop tries to meet the needs of the community
all week long, not just on Sundays," says Craig. "As
a result, the mechanics ministry has been very influential in
leading people to the Lord."
Adds Cedar Park's senior pastor Joseph Fuiten, "We believe
the gospel requires us to help people, to be of help to people
in need. It has been a great outreach within the community."
