Church of the Redeemer in Gaithersburg, Maryland, typically has a Sunday attendance of about 6,000. But during their Easter program each year, the church ministers to over 16,000 people with The Story of Love, a passion play of drama and song. The production is huge; over three hundred people make up the choir and cast.
Pastor Dale O’Shields explains the church’s vision to reach out to the community: “Our vision is really twofold. One is to really serve our community, and second, that serving leads to sharing the love and gospel of Jesus Christ. So it provides the opportunity to both serve and share.”
At the service last year, John was one of those people. Since that time, Church of the Redeemer has become an instrumental part of his walk with Christ.
“Church of the Redeemer has completely changed my life for the better from one end to the other,” says John. “I remember one of the things that I’ve learned is that Jesus came not to make bad people good, but to make dead people live. What I’ve discovered is that there are a lot of alive people here at Church of the Redeemer, and I think I’m now one of them.”
