American Idol Scotty McCreery on God, Love, and Country Music

CBN.com Most American Idol fans have noticed over the seasons that many of the finalists are professing Christians. This year was no different in winner Scotty McCreery and runner-up Lauren Alaina. Unashamed about their faith, McCreery and Alaina spoke boldly during a video interview with Rolling Stone magazine as they answered fan-submitted questions.
When asked to describe his ideal girl, McCreery expressed that he’d “like her to be a Christian and musically or athletically inclined.”
Alaina answered the same question, saying she wants someone who “loves Jesus”.
These two emerging talents are holding fast to II Corinthians 6:14 (“Do not be bound together with unbelievers”). It’s refreshing to see two young, up-and-coming stars profess faith in Christ and share how it guides their lifestyles and what they want for their future.
Both say they are committed to making great Country music on their debut albums. But for now, they’re focused on meeting fans as they make their way across the country on the Idol Summer Tour.
